Open Interest — Crypto Futures
Real-time open interest (OI) for Bitcoin and major crypto futures on Binance. Track how total position size changes to gauge market conviction.
What is Open Interest?
Open Interest (OI) is the total number of outstanding futures or perpetual contracts that have not been settled. Rising OI means new money is flowing into the market; falling OI means positions are being closed.
OI is one of the most reliable indicators of market conviction. A price move accompanied by rising OI is generally more sustainable than one with falling OI, which can signal short covering or profit taking.
Sudden drops in OI often coincide with large liquidation events, where overleveraged positions are forcibly closed by the exchange.
